SOME FACTS ABOUT DREDD

1/ JUDGE DEAD

Dredd has been prenounced dead at least 4 times. His funeral was actually held back in the early days of prog 34 but his vdeath had been faked in order to smoke out "MUTIE THE PIG"

Later Dredd faked his own suicide in order to escape from the Grand Hall of Justice when it was under Sov occupation. (prog 261)

Dredd also lured Cal into thinking he was dead twice, Once when Dredd survived an attempt on his life after being shot through the head (prog 89) and then when he was in a road liner which was forced off the roadway causing it to plummet into the depths of the city bottom (prog 99)      

2/ WRITING THE LAW

One Mega City Law was named after Judge Dredd because he particulary wished to see it being passed.

The Dredd Act (prog 126) outlawed experimentation on animals.      

3/ WALTER NO MORE

Having served Dredd since the end of the robot wars (prog 17) Walter the Robot finally cashed in his micro chips when Mean Machine Angel smashed him to bits  (prog 286)

4/  DOUBLE DREDD

Only one issue of 2000AD has featured two actual Jusge Dredd strips.

(prog 195) The Fink part 3 and " Knock on the door"  

5/  WHITEY OR NOT WHITEY

Judge Dredds first ever adversary, Whitey the judge killer from prog 2 has been the featured villan on four seperate stories.

"RETURN OF WHITEY" was the sequel that followed prog 31, but he turned up again in the 200Ad annual 1978. He again appeared in prog 520 again seeking revenge on Dredd.

6/  TEST TUBE JUDGE

Joe Dredd and his brother Rico were both cloned from the genes of the legendary former chief judge Fargo in 2066.

7/  IT'S A LONG STORY

The longest running one off story about judge Dredd to appear in 2000AD weekly was " a merry tale of the Christmas Angel"  (prog450) and was 14 pages long.

8/ JUDGE FREE ZONE

Only three issues of 2000Ad have not featured a Judge Dredd story:
