Life in MEGA CITY ONE

Welcome to a slice of life in MEGA CITY 1, the 22nd century madhouse inhabited by over 400 million potential crazies, murders and victims. This city is patrolled by the most hardned judicinal force known to man THE JUDGES.

Judge Dredd is the ultimate lawman and the most feared he is judge, jury and executioner, his powers give him the authority to make or take life.Unemployment is high, citizens turn to all kinds of new gimmicks for their constant source of stimulation in a society where the drudgery of work has almost been completley replaced by the similar equally numbing effects of total leisure.

Mega City One is a gigantic metropolis that covers the Eastern seaboard of what was the United States of America.

It is bordered on one side by BLACK ATLANTIC (so called because of it's highly polluted state) and on the other side by the CURSED EARTH.

The city is protected by a huge Plasteen wall which is equipped with scanners, which constantly search the horizon for any approaching danger, and also a highly efficient laser system which guards the skies above the city.

HOW MEGA CITY WORKS

TRANSPORT

Although the city has 13 billion miles of roadway there isn't much room to drive. Part of the reason for this is the 16 million people who drive MO-PADS, Mobile homes which are continualy on the move untill there owners can find an apartment in one of the cityblocks.

POWER

Power is generated by the the POWER TOWER, a magnificent exampleof man's ingenuity when faced with a crisis. After the Atomic Wars and the outcry against nuclear power MEGA CITY 1 scientists bored deep into the earth's crust in search of an alternative energy source. They looked to tap into the earth's own iniier power and did so using the molten lava to provide that new energy source. Although deemed safe  even though it is a controlled volcano the POWER TOWER has been proved  to be unprepared for a terrorist attack Cursed Earth inhabitents did succeed in sabotaging the tower and caused it to erupt spewing red hot lava over a wide area and killing thousands.

POST AND BANKING

The usual delivery time for a 1st class letter in MEGA CITY 1   is three weeks.The banking services are more efficient although dealing with a robotic bank manager could be slightly un-nerving for some people.

WEATHER

The weather in the city can be anything which the citizens want. Their votes for the day are collated in weather congress,the city's ground weather station, and then beamed up to atmospher control stations which float above the city. These automatically bring the weather voted for, usually hot and sunny but the occasional rain storm is ordered to clean the streets.
