Training
Training is a common thread which runs through all Sea Cadet activity. Boatwork, Sailing, canoing, sea going experience under sail and power form the basis of the unique character building syllabus. But there's plenty of scope for competition and fun with that special blend of camaraderie which comes from being a valued member of a team. In true naval tradition, Cadets earn promotion as their skills increase taking them from new entrant to Petty Officer. Some units have Marine Cadet Detachments sponsored by the Royal Marines and open to boys from the age of thirteen.
ACTIVITIES
Cadets test their mettle, competing in events ranging from sailing and rowing regattas, band contests and sporting events to the esoterics of drill and piping. There are plenty of opportunities to go to sea aboard Royal Navy ships and visit Naval Bases such as Britain's largest Naval Air Station at Culdrose in Cornwall where Cadet courses include helicopter flight experience.
