By lacing MEGA CITY 1 'S water supply with a drug that induced the citizens to turn to violence, EAST MEG 1 spy ORLOK was able to cause a massive outbreak of BLOCK WARS throughout the city.
With all the judges busy trying to deal with this disaster, EAST MEG1 launched a nuclear assault upon the city, almost automatically MEGA CITY 1 launched it's counter offensive but the SOVS were protected from the missiles due to their newly developed APOCALYPSE WARP.This new device warped the missiles into another dimension.
Having now destroyed over half of the city the Sovs launched their more
conventional forces under the command of WAR MARSHALL KAZAN. The judges fought
bravely but their cause seemed hopeless, especially when CHIEF JUDGE GRIFFIN
was captured and forced into betraying them.
Dredd was forced to kill Griffin before the Sovs could use him for excessive
propaganda.Desperate to fight back Dredd formed the APOCALYPSE SQUAD
a hand picked elite group of judges with one aim, to win the war. Judges
ANDERSON, HERSHEY,OCKS, KWAH, COSTA, McDONALD, HAMBLE and MORANT made
up the squad which was led by DREDD.
With the use of a captured Sov STRATO-V flying craft Dredd and his squad
managed , with the aid of the element of surprise, to capture a SOV missile
silo and from there launched an attack on EAST-MEG 1
This led to the annihilation of the Sov city! With their homeland now in ruins the Sov invaders lost their will to fight and the judges soon regained control of their own city. JUDGE McGRUDER became the new CHIEF JUDGE but never the less it took a long time for MEGA CITY 1 to recover from this holocaust.
