THIS STORY WAS A CONTINUATION FROM THE CURSED EARTH SAGA

After first framing DREDD for murder then secretly ordering the death of chief judge Goodman Deputy chief judge Cal took over the role of chief judge and began his reign of terror as dictator of MEGA CITY 1.

When DREDD discovered Cal's involvement with the murder of chief judge Goodman Cal  ordered DREDD'S assasination. Shot through the head DREDD barley survived the atack but was aided by judge GIANT. He was able to evade Cal's forces and to begin to organise ressistance to the corrupt chief judge.

CAL had been able to submit most of the judges to hypnotic suggestion thus brainwashing them to obey him, this led to great difficulty in recruiting judges to aid DREDD in his ressistance to CAL'S tyranny. His main help came from retired and  old or injured judges from the ACADEMY OF LAW. THis of course was not the best scenario .

Citizens were soon inspired by the ressistance to cal and demonstrations soon began to  show their opposition to Cal's rule and of course support for DREDD.

Cal of course had an ace up his sleeve in the form of the KLEGG mercenaries who due to their sudden appearance were able to  subdue the ressistance to cal and his rule. Cal now seized the opportunity to introduce even more vague laws and became even more repressive. In order to prevent citizens from escaping the city he ordered the building of a huge wall around the city making it a virtual prison for it's inhabitents. During this period cal did sentance the whole city to death TWICE!!

With cal outlawing happiness and threatening to relase nerve gas the ressistance was forced to move quickly, having been able to counteract the brainwashing Dredd's forces grew and were finally able to defeat Cal and his KLEGG allies.

Judge Griffin was appointed new Chief Judge.
